During my long and horribly tedious overnight flight from Singapore to London in 2016, I took a moment to write down the things I don’t like about BA’s Business class product, which they call “Club World”. This is what I wrote:
- The eight abreast seating (where the industry standard has moved to four abreast)
- The narrow seats
- The lack of shelves or stowage space at your seat, even for a magazine
- Backwards facing seats. (Every window seat faces backwards.)
- Closed window blinds on take-off and landing
- No wide area lighting at your seat, making it hard to find things at night
- No pyjamas provided on overnight flights
- No pre-take-off hot or cold towel
- The very mediocre food and drink offering
- The tiny lavatories
- Only filter coffee available
- Strangers climb over you when you’re trying to sleep, as they try to get to the aisle
- A cheap toiletries bag and amenities kit with poor contents
- There’s no privacy in your seat
- The staff
- Only one 500ml bottle of water per passenger
- The pathetic “Club Kitchen”. Mini KitKat anyone?
