BOHO Gelato, Brighton

Boho Gelato is Brighton’s most awarded ice cream shop, and a strong social media following means there is often a queue out front. It’s on a small slightly drab side street connecting the Lanes’ East Street to the Pool Valley coach station, but it’s just 50m from Brighton beach.  The shop is for take-away, there aren’t any seats for eating-in.

I made my first visit to treat my mate’s six year old twin girls.  They make well known as well as unusual ices on site, and offer a choice of cone types or tubs to eat it from. I chose a chocolate-dipped cone with a single scoop of ‘Passionfruit custard’. The single scoops are pretty generous portions at £2.60 each, plus 50p extra for the chocolate cone.
My ice cream was good, but I didn’t like the cone, as I felt it lacked sugar, but maybe that’s a good thing. 5/10
One girl liked her salted caramel gelato, but the other wasn’t too keen on her ‘glacier mint’. I tasted it and agreed that it was more for an adult’s palate, as it was closer to an ice sorbet than a creamy gelato.

Overall Boho Gelato didn’t float my boat. 3/10
